Recently i had a close guy friend hug me, and it felt like we were swaying. he kinda walked me backwards, and his head/face was nested in my shoulder/neck area, he was bending lower, and the hug tightened and lasted for over 20 seconds. his hands went from my shoulder to my waist... i feel like the hug indicate he feel something more than friendliness. i think he might even be interested in me. i let go before he does. thing is it is always a full body hug, as in everything touches.
i need help from the guys here. do you usually hug a girl for over 5 seconds? girls have you ever received hug like this? who was it from? was it full body. describe details of the hug if you can ^^ also who let go first? most importantly, does it feel platonic?

I'm another girl here and I've had bf's before. My 2cents is that both of your friends, no matter how you see it, feel something more. i can see this from the body language the two of you describe. you guys have both blurred the lines in your friendships, if that's what it is. With the exception of certain cultures(not ours, obviously), the full body hug is not characteristic of platonic context. Ling, you admitted you felt awkward. full body and lengthy hugs are generally reserved for romantic expression, especially when they're that tight for that long. fve seconds is already quite long to be hugging that tightly. You also admit a similar full body hug with fam would be inappropriate b/c it is. full body hugs create contact between the chest and obviously lower anatomy and are sexually suggestive. none of my close male friends have ever placed a finger on my waist while hugging (only my bf's). you can think a hug shouldn't be overanalyzed, but in your cases there is much to be said. A hug is a hug, yes but you have both included other minor details that attest to much more. the tighter the hug, the more it means. longer hugs could also mean something more. You both describe like you were dancing. You ever see couples in the middle of PDA? they look as if they're on their own island.
A hug can reveal a lot about the two people and the relationship between them
If any kind of hug makes you feel uncomfortable, then it's inappropriate.

Why is my hug being analyzed? I think you're not as aware as you believe you are. Or you're not reading too much into things b/c you dont want your relationship with this person compromised. actions speak louder than wordss

Lol... well, think what you will. I don't try to define things because I just want to go with the flow. Not to say I haven't before, but it wasn't about a hug. But anyway... I have edited my post.
In short, I do not think a hug can be analyzed in a way that reveals something so grand as how the guy/girl feel about each other. It depends on the circumstances.
We will agree to disagree, miss daint. (=
