The novels, the movies.... where does everyone stand on this saga?

I'm not going to deny it - I could care less about the two main characters of this series. The one character I do like in Twilight stands for something much more than the mere presence he injects in the novel. Jacob Black. I love him DEARLY. He loves unconditionally. I've always been one to support the 'second man,' the one who doesn't get the girl - he either doesn't get her at all (usually the case, boo hoo =[ ) or ends up with her later (rarely, psh.) or he gives up - and then there's Rhett Butler from Gone With the Wind. Why? Because it's clear that he makes the most sacrifices for the girl he's in love with. Jacob stands for all that a girl could ever ask for - someone who's understanding, loyal, undaunted to take the initiative, always there to help. He's of Native American descent, described as "sort of beautiful" with russet skin.
As for the romance between the two main leads - it seems superficial to me.
But hey, I don't hate Twilight completely. I love Jacob Black, the werewolf, too much for that. However, the best ends there, with Jacob. He stands for so much more to me. I'm not in love or like with Twilight itself. I'm enamored by the one character that stands for a universal standard among women. You can't bash me for that ;D

You can't bash me for that ;D I think I figured that much when we were at the theater a few months ago. You were lingering a bit longer at the New Moon poster than I would expect for someone who fell asleep ten minutes into Twilight, the first installment =P That's because Jacob didn't play much of a role until New Moon, eh? I agree with you, though - Jacob's character is such a nice one :3 We all want a guy like that ;o I would imagine you watched New Moon for Jacob - or fastforwarded to his parts ;D If you're reading the novels, don't just skip the first one - Jacob already comes to life in Twilight, trust me. He just doesn't appear that much. Surprisingly most of my guy friends are ok with Twilight. they actually thought New Moon was pretty funny. "what a marshmallow." LOL

well, Ling, if you like Jacob, then you'll only like New Moon - and MAYBE Eclipse. i'm just saying that if you like nothing else about Twilight other than Jacob, then you're in for a big disappointment.

^ WHOA, and I thought I had it bad, always supporting the guy who never gets the girl. Look at their facial expressions! CRINGE WORTHY.
I still stand by what I said. I still support Jacob Black (holy crap, Jacob Black is a werewolf and Sirius Black is Padfoot.). Because he's more real and healthier for the female lead. I find the romance between the vampire Edward and Bella highly disturbing - not only because it's DISTURBING, but because he made her feel RESPONSIBLE for him. All that "I will kill myself if I have to live without you, Bella" crap. What utter bullcrud. She could've been with Jacob - the well-rounded, funny, sarcastic, caring best friend that any girl can relate to.
Psh. Screw Edward.
I'm ready for the blows LOL

(holy crap, Jacob Black is a werewolf and Sirius Black is Padfoot.) You did NOT just draw a parallel between Harry Potter and Twilight...

(holy crap, Jacob Black is a werewolf and Sirius Black is Padfoot.) You did NOT just draw a parallel between Harry Potter and Twilight... You don't have to react that way because you're already vehemently against Twilight. I drew no parallel between Twilight's ridiculous plot and the Harry Potter phenomenon. Obviously the former would pale in comparison, right? I wish everyone would hear me out when I say I like Jacob Black. But then, he's not the male lead character. I could care less about the main characters. So now I'm unsure.... the romance between the main characters disturbs me... but Jacob Black is so memorable... I've always been so biased towards the guy who loves the girl from afar. I just can't seem to convey that in words. Regardless of whatever stupid backdrop of a plot he's in, Jacob Black is still a symbol of what a girl wants. A guy who loves unconditionally and unswervingly.I don't know how else to say it, how else to justify myself.... :[ It's like Da Ren Wu with Nicholas Tse... everyone was disgusting, while Nicholas's character was so heroic. I guess with every story, I'm very passionate about the one redeeming character. It's how I find something to like about every story <3 P.S. Kill Edward.

^no! it's not like that, Ling. i getcha ^^ i'm sorry i didn't respond earlier :/ yeah, i get what you're saying. you always like the guy who doesn't get the girl, because, like you say, he sacrifices more for her. and most of them it's obvious, at least to the audience, that he's better for her.
but jacob black aside, twilight just really sucks.
please note that i didn't put him down XD

Yeah... that's something I couldn't get about Ling at first, way back when we used to watch dramas together. When I named a drama, she'd get excited at the sound of it, then when I asked her, "oh you like that drama, too?", she would just shrug and name one character and it was ALWAYS the girl character's best friend who was in love with her or something! she'd only like his parts and be indifferent about everything else in the drama... because she loves guys who sacrifice a lot for the girl they love. i guess i'm the same way... but i mostly watch dramas to drool over the actors (unlike Ling).
but yeah, Ling, i understand you ^^ This thread is about Twilight in general, though. No one's bashing the all-around good guy, Jacob Black, so don't worry. right, guys? =D
