A Better Understanding of the "Nine Tailed Fox":
A 'goo mi ho' is a fox with nine tails that commonly appears in Chinese and Korean traditional fairy tales. It can transform itself freely into an enchanting woman who tempt the men. They say each tail has its own different skill. It seems the number of tails that the 'goo mi ho' has, 9, doesn't mean "fixed 9", but that it is numerous. They say when a fox lives for at least 1000 years, it transforms into a 'goo mi ho'.
If a 'goo mi ho' wanted to become a human, it must eat 100 human livers. There is a story that when a 'goo mi ho' goes to tempt a man for the 100th liver, the man who is fated to die at the hands of a 'goo mi ho' can defeat it by asking for help from an animal or a ghost who the man had helped or received help from.
Every 100 years, a tail is formed. Once nine tails are obtained, and after the next hundred years, therefore, after living 1000 years, the fox can transform into a human. So, a 'goo mi ho' that had lived for 1000 years is a character that had taken the livers of men by transforming into a beautiful woman. Once it eats the liver of 100 people, it can live on as a human. However, within the story, after eating 99 livers, it always fails at the moment it goes to get its 100th liver.
'The Nine-tailed Fox - A Supplementary Tale', using a base of the legend that tells the story of the nine-tailed foxes who loved the humans but were betrayed by them, is a production that shows the long destiny that humans and the nine-tailed fox clan cannot coexist into a tragic love story, recreating the nine-tailed foxes' tale, that was stuffed back into the legends, into a modernized parody.
