English Title (in Berlin International Film Festival): Lost in Beijing English Title (in Asia): Ping Guo Starring : Tony Leung Ka Fai, Fan Bing Bing, Elaine Jin, Dawei Tong Synopis : Liu Pingguo (Fan Bing Bing) and her husband, An Kun (Dawei Tong) are a young migrant couple from the northeast of China who have moved to Beijing for a better life. Pingguo and An Kun live in a dilapidated apartment eking out their existence working menial jobs. An Kun works as a window washer, while his wife works in the Golden Basin Massage Parlor as a foot masseuse, under the supervision of Lin Dong (Tony Leung Ka Fai), himself from the south of China. Soon, trouble arrives when, at a work party, Lin Dong and Pingguo end up intoxicated, and Lin Dong ends up raping Pingguo. In a dramatic twist, the entire scene is witnessed by An Kun, who had been washing the windows outside the building. Rather than outrage, however, he mistakes the event as his wife's infidelity. Soon, it is discovered that Pingguo is pregnant. An Kun confronts Lin Dong and threatens him with blackmail. Lin Dong, however, is also desperate for a child, which his barren wife Wang Mei (Elaine Jin) is unable to provide for him. Ultimately all three, An Kun, Lin Dong, and Wang Mei sign contracts. Lin will adopt the child, An Kun will receive a substantial amount of money, and Wang Mei will receive 50% of Lin Dong's assets should he cheat on her again. Pingguo, however, discovers that she cannot give up the child...
