Have you ever had this experience before? Where you're lying in bed and you feel as if there was a heavy weight on top of you, and you want to move but you can`t? Can you tell me about it?

I'm an episodic pro at this. and once you get past the initial paralysis experience, you start seeing things. My moods are always affected after such episodes, most often linger for a week or more. Really disconcerting. some practical ppl can't stand my paranormal twist to the experiences.

WOWOWOWO DIDNT KNOW WHAT IT WAS CALLED, BUT I HAD A COUPLE, BEFORE..
MY PARENTS SAY ITS BECUZ YOUR STRESS. WELL WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL, I ALWAYS HAD THEM. I WOULD TELL MYSELF TO WAKE UP, THAT ITS ONLY A DREAM, AND I WOULD TRY TO OPEN MY EYES, MOVE MY FINGERS OR SOMETHING...
"TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH, ITS AN OLD SAYING WELL IN MY CULTURE THAT.. ITS LIKE A MONSTER.." NOT SURE.. I GUESS I GREW UP AROUND THAT THEORY..

most others have stated various reasons:
-stress
-change in daily habits, sleeping patterns, circadian rhythms
-diets (hyperactive intakes of sugar induce dreams and nightmares)
-sleeping postures (don't cross your arms or legs, hence contributing to the sensation of being bound or trapped or suppressed)
-exercise (muscle crampings)
-paranormals: incubus (aka ghost rape)
-sitting spirits
-out-of body experience where the soul is trying to get out and the body is not. (I experienced this, when I felt paralyzed, yet tried desperately to move, and "saw" my "spirit" hand lifting out of my physical body

it's neurological. most of time when you lay down, there's probably a nerve root infringement causing numbness, weakness or tingling sensation down the extremities.

If that were so, we should take a poll of doctors or ppl with stressful lives to see if our hypothesis is correct.
Who's gonna do this for a psychology project? or even a science project.

whoa. this is the first time I hear both individuals exhibiting simultaneous experiences. Does this recur since the initial experience? I'm sorry, I have no idea to contribute with your situation.
I had experienced the sensation that someone / something was in the room before. I chalked it down to another episode of sleep hallucinations. But maaan! It did feel so real, my neck muscle clenched with that physical sensation!
I was struggling to rouse myself from the paralysis, and finally succeeded. But I "felt" a "presence" standing behind me. My back was turned toward the windows. And like in those "hair-raising" horrorific moments, where the individual felt something at the back of their neck, mine was so tensed, it felt almost painful. I felt this with my eyes closed. So thinking It must be due to my imaginations. The feeling ensue even after I opened my eyes. I finally dashed across the room for the light switch, and did not return to the room for a long while afterwards. The presence felt real to me.
This differed from other sleep paralysis episodes b/c it happened after the episode rather than during.
like I once claimed, I have paranormal twists to these experiences of mine. I can't bring myself to accept scientific explanations as "the" only explanations.
